Hi, my name is Mario and I would like to tell you a little about myself and how my many years of experience sharpening Ice Skates, developed into a quality service for skaters.

The acquiring of these skills started in 1967 when I started an apprenticeship with an elevator company as an electrical mechanic.  Four years later I became a qualified electrician and electrical contractor.  Instead of striking out on my own I remained in the elevator industry for thirty five years.  During most of those years I was involved with the construction and servicing of elevators.  I spent the last seven years of my time in the industry as a trainer, training apprentices and service technicians in the industry.

In 1985 my daughter became involved in ice skating as a sport and for a while I even joined her in learning to skate but soon discovered that I much preferred to spend my time at the rink indulging my passion for photography.  I have since had a great deal of experience photographing figure skating events and Ice Shows.

As a result of my involvement with ice skating I became aware of the demand for a good quality skate sharpening service in my area.  I decided to apply the skills learned during my thirty five years experience in mechanical engineering, to the problem of supplying my daughter’s need for regular skate sharpening.  It wasn’t long before ice skating friends and team members also began regularly requesting my expertise in skate sharpening.

Today I have expanded my service to include:

  • Blade sharpening,

  • Setting and aligning blades to boots,

  • Applying water resistance treatment to boots,

  • Repairing or replacing broken lace eyelet hooks,

  • Pressing out boots to accommodate individual ankle bone configuration.

As I mentioned earlier, my favourite hobby is photography and my involvement with ice skating over the years has afforded me many opportunities to perfect my talent in this area.  The quality of my work has led to invitations to photograph events for the Penrith Valley Figure Skating Club, Liverpool Catholic Club Figure and Synchronized Skating, Sydney Figure Skating Club and previously the Blacktown Amateur Figure Skating Club who originally encouraged me to add event photography to the services I provide to skaters.

As a result of my photo taking over the many years, I have gained skills in photo editing, which has led me to include photo restoration and re-touching to my services. To view some samples click on RESTORATIONS.
